SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
We make a difference by actively promoting
arts, community and green initiatives.
a-iTrust frmly believes in the importance of Corporate
Social Responsibility (“CSR”) and endeavors to operate in
an economically, socially and environmentally responsible
manner. The Trust prescribes to Ascendas Group’s CSR
philosophies and best practices, which is communicated
to all employees. The CSR programme focuses on three
key areas, namely the Arts, Community and Charity, and
Environment, Health and Safety.
Arts
a-iTrust is a keen patron of the arts and seeks to nurture
creative talents, and inspire creativity and innovation in
its properties. Prime public spaces, including lobbies and
common areas, are set aside to showcase art works,
including paintings, sculptures, and installation arts of
emerging Indian artists.
In May 2012, a Green Art exhibition was hosted at
International Tech Park Chennai as part of the ‘Ascendas
Go Green 2012’ campaign. The art exhibition featured
a mix of creative works by various artists using waste
materials in their art to highlight pressing environmental
issues and create awareness through drawing, painting,
installation and collage.
Community & Charity
a-iTrust believes in proactively leveraging its core
competencies to improve the quality of life in the societies
that it operates in. To reach out and help the needy and
less fortunate, a-iTrust organised the following community
and charity activities and programmes.
Our Bangalore team visited Divine Light School of Blind, a
school for blind and differently-abled children located close to
International Tech Park Bangalore in Whitefeld. The teachers
proudly showcased the skills and capabilities of their school
children in various felds of art and craft such as singing,
dancing, skit and paper craft. The Bangalore team bonded
with the children and contributed provisions and carpets to
the school. The team also helped carry out infrastructure
works for the children’s hostel and canteen.
Ascendas and the Tamil Nadu Differently-Abled Federation
Charitable Trust, came together for the sixth consecutive year
to recognise 10 individuals who had tirelessly contributed
towards the beneft of differently-abled individuals from the
state. Started in 2007 as part of its community initiative, the
Ascendas Excellence Award has over the years recognised
the talents of 75 special individuals. This year, the recipients
included parents, individuals and associations who have
supported these special achievers and helped them to be a
proud member of society. The award, comprising a trophy,
certifcate and cash prize was presented to each of the 10
recipient by Mr K. Ramanujam, Director General of Police,
Tamil Nadu.
Our Hyderabad team was engaged in constructing toilets
for female students at Zilla Parishad government school,
located at Srirangavaram village in Andhra Pradesh. The
construction of toilets commenced in November 2012.
The facility is now operational and available for the use by
female students. It serves about 120 female students at
the school. Prior to the commencement of the initiative,
our staff visited the location to assess the needs of the
